For the first time, an electronic copyof the Handbook was made available to members online this past fall. The electronic and paper publications are the same.
The handbook is the key to providing competitors with the best possible race management for many types of racing. It serves as a checklist for organizing regattas, preparing notices of race and sailing instructions, and planning race operations including suggested systems, techniques and equipment for quality race management. The 308 page book with tables and diagrams is a vital part of the training and testing program for race officers and should be in every race committee’s on board kit
As noted in the Handbook’s foreword written by Robin Wallace, Chairman of the Race Management Committee, “Inevitably as soon as any book is published, something will happen that requires an update, so please check the Race Managementsection of the US SAILING website at intervals. The web also has a wide range of forms that may be of help to race officials.”
